Match report Under 10’s Beckenham Town v Seymour Villa

It was a soggy but sunny morning away game at Beckenham Town.

Kicking off at 10am Seymour Villa began the game in a positive mood despite last seasons previous fixture ending in a win for Beckenham. Rufus was back keeping goal, Michael and Finlay in defence, Henry in the middle, Arian and Alfie on the wings with Lennon up top.

Beckenham playing in red and white were a well-organised opponent but the Villa boys in blue and white were a match for them on this occasion. The first half was a good contest but Seymour were having more possession and looking threatening. Coach made some changes in the half, bringing on Louis, Alex, Gavin and Noa.

The half ended 0-0 but it had been thrilling, the only thing missing was a goal. Bring on the half time oranges and a few words from coach.

The second half began as the first had ended. Full of pace and attack. Louis had been deployed upfront and found himself a pocket of space in the box, and cool as you like, he found the back of the net. 1-0 to Seymour Villa!

However, It didn’t take long after the restart for Beckenham Town to pinch an equaliser. A deserved goal but it didn’t seem right that the blues weren’t in front, the balance of the game always seeming in Villa’s favour. Come on the boys! The Villa faithful, as always we’re like the 12th man, in good voice! The next goal would be crucial and deservedly it came from a well-worked move. A neat dribble and pass from Henry to Noa who put in a great cross from the left that found Gavin in the box with a clear sight of goal......Goal!!!! 2-1 to Villa.

With 10 minutes remaining there was no time to relax.

Michael had a good free-kick saved at the near post. We were looking for a 3rd, but on this occasion, it wasn’t to be. Despite a great effort, the score remained at 2-1. A great win and a fantastic performance. The boys earned a well-deserved congratulations from the crowd and from coach Julian. Michael was awarded man of the match for a commanding defensive display, but it was a man of the match performance for the whole team today. Everyone running hard for the full 50 minutes.

Well done boys!

A tough result to take this morning but one that was needed to give the boys a reality check. This was our first game in a month due to the weather so I was expecting the boys to be slightly rusty, bu
