Seymour Villa FC U17s v Petts Wood Kestrels

The third game of the season, and after last week's game the boys were determined to start the game quickly and with lots of intensity. We started very well and seeing the boys play out from the back was a joy to see for all. However it was the same old story, we had multiple shots and goalmouth scrambles but still couldn’t break the deadline until the 30th minute where Henry sets up Junior who scores the opener. Petts Wood hardly makes it into our box and at half time it’s 1-0.

At half time, not much was said, the boys knew that if they carried on the way they were playing we would win the game comfortably. Low and behold, 76 seconds into the second half a Chillu free-kick is converted by Amari from a very tight angle with his first touch of the game. It was 2-0 and Petts Wood lost all confidence. We dominated the rest of the game much like the first half. Junior, Jamie and an own goal brought the score up to 5-0. We had multiple chances to make it more but failed to convert, so something to work on in training. The game ended 5-0.

It’s hard to pick out individual performances because everyone did their job, from Anton’s composure in his distribution to Junior’s creative runs. But one player stood out and that was our Man of the match, Jamie Mander, he ran absolute rings around their whole team, got fouled multiple times but still kept the ball and managed to bag a goal and an assist.

Thanks to those that came and supported and helped with the goals. I believe you were entertained!

A tough result to take this morning but one that was needed to give the boys a reality check. This was our first game in a month due to the weather so I was expecting the boys to be slightly rusty, bu
