SVFC U11’s v Ten Em Bee Lions U11’s

The first game of the season and the first 9 a side match which we also gave debuts to 3 new players and their first time playing competitive matches.

It was a rude awakening and real learning curve for the guys that saw us quickly slip 3-0 down and really needing to learn the offside rule in terms of defending.

As the first half progressed we came back into it and showed some fight and scored 2 goals with George thumping home a penalty and Dan finishing from close range from a George cross.

The lack of competitive matches at this format started to show with players needing to learn positions but that will come as the season progresses.

We had some good individual performances but we need to learn quickly so there is lots to do in training to develop as a team.

As the second half progressed we tired as had no substitutes and some heads dropped which is understandable m. However we never gave up scored a good third with George and had a few chances to score a couple more which would have made the score line more respectable.

Overall Lots to work on in training especially fitness and being positionally aware. We also need to be more competitive from the start and the whole team has to fight for each other.

I said to the players to forget the score. It’s how we develop as individuals and a team that’s more important and the more we play the stronger we will become.

POTM Caelan. Great attitude and drive at the back. Never giving up and leading then new players and guiding them. Great maturity. Also went in goal half way through second half. Well played young man.
