The Warren Pumas v SVFC U17s 0:2

The second game of the season and after last weeks 3-0 victory the boys were in good spirits. The first 20 minutes we had the majority of possession, keeping the ball at the back well. We kept trying to break the deadlock with no luck but up pops Junior in the 19th minute, takes on their defence and lashed home the opener. As the first half went on we fell into a period of low-intensity football due to The Warrens lack of pressure. We came in at half time 1-0 up.

At half time we encouraged the boys to raise the intensity and become more direct because although keeping the ball at the back looks nice, it doesn’t win us games. The boys reacted well, we pressed high and in all honesty, we should have been up by 4 or 5. 62nd minute and Oli Jacobs pops up with his second assist of the season with a great cross converted by the the Warren’s centre half.

We dominated the rest of the second half and ended the game with a comfortable 2-0 win. Although it should of been more today, 2 games of the season, 5 goals scored and 0 goals conceded is a very good start.

Man of the match this week was Samir, had fantastic positioning, won all of his headers, distributed very well and kept the back four compact.

Coach Sam and Vince.
